Oman Air's Conditions of Carriage say you must contact Oman Air in advance to change a booking, and that certain fares limit or exclude changes and cancellations. The pages we could read state no fee amounts, so your fare rules decide. Unused tickets can be refunded or exchanged under those rules, a voluntary refund is the fare paid less administrative and cancellation fees, and a name error means cancelling and buying a new ticket. We found no 24-hour free-cancellation rule.

Oman Air change fees

The Oman Air pages we could read state no change or cancellation fee amounts. They refer to administrative fees and cancellation fees under your fare rules, and Oman Air's main website blocks automated readers, so we could not read its fare pages. Older guides quote fixed dollar fees by fare, discounts for loyalty members and higher charges at the airport. We could not match any of those to Oman Air's own documents, so we have not repeated them. Before you agree to a change, ask Oman Air or your agency for the exact amount for your ticket.

Change fee vs. fare difference

A change can include two separate amounts. A change charge is whatever your fare rules require. The fare difference follows from Oman Air's statement that changing your itinerary or dates may affect the fare. If you travel on a different itinerary without agreement, Oman Air assesses the correct price for your actual travel and you pay the difference.

How to change your Oman Air flight

1. Go to omanair.com and open Manage Booking with your booking reference.
2. Check whether your booking qualifies: online date and time changes are for bookings with no extra products, and most travel agent and group bookings are excluded.
3. If it does not, contact the Oman Air office or the agency where you bought the ticket.
4. Review the new fare, any difference and any charge before you agree, then save the new itinerary.

Cancel an Oman Air flight and refunds

Oman Air says unused tickets can be refunded or exchanged under the prevailing fare and ticketing rules. What you get depends on why you cancel:

• Voluntary cancellation: the fare paid, less any applicable administrative fees and cancellation fees (10.3.1).
• Oman Air cancels or makes a significant change: an amount equal to the fare paid, including refundable taxes and surcharges (10.2.1).
• Who is paid: only the person who originally paid, to the original form of payment, with photo ID for e-ticket refunds.
• Timing: requests go to the entity that issued the ticket, and online requests for eligible refunds are paid within 45 days (10.1.6).
• Credits and vouchers: Oman Air says it currently cannot accept them for online purchases.

If you booked through an agency, the cancellation and any refund go through the agency.

Oman Air 24-hour cancellation rule

We did not find a 24-hour free-cancellation rule in Oman Air's Conditions of Carriage or booking FAQ. Oman Air also says reservations must be ticketed within the time limit or they are cancelled automatically. Older pages claim a free 24-hour window for every fare. We could not confirm that, so do not rely on it.

Oman Air no-show policy and check-in

The Conditions of Carriage (6.2) say that if you do not reach the gate in time you are classed a no-show and a charge is payable. If you check in and do not fly without a valid reason, Oman Air may claim costs from the delay (6.3), the seat may be reallocated (6.5), and onward reservations may be cancelled (5.7.1). Notifying Oman Air before the check-in deadline can prevent that, subject to your fare rules. Use the times below.

1. If the flight has not left, change or cancel it before the check-in deadline.
2. If it has left, contact Oman Air or the agency that issued your ticket straight away.
3. Ask about the whole itinerary before you buy a new ticket, since onward reservations may be cancelled.
4. If you booked with AirFiesta, call or message us before departure.

Oman Air name errors and name changes

Oman Air provides carriage only to the passenger named on the ticket, and tickets are non-transferable. Its booking FAQ says any error in the name or its spelling means the ticket has to be cancelled and a new one bought in the correct name, subject to current fares and availability, with cancellation charges that are not specified. Photo ID is required at check-in. Check every name against the passport before you pay, and if you notice an error, contact Oman Air or the issuing agency before you travel.

If Oman Air changes or cancels your flight

The Conditions of Carriage (9.1) say flight times and durations may change after publication or ticketing, and that Oman Air may substitute carriers or aircraft without notice. If Oman Air makes a significant change that you do not accept, and has no suitable alternative, you qualify for a refund under Article 10.2. For a cancellation or significant delay (9.2.2), you may choose rebooking on another flight, re-routing or a refund. We did not read Oman Air's compensation rules for delays, so check Oman Air's pages for your flight.

Ticket validity

An Oman Air ticket is valid for one year from the date of issue, or one year from the first flight if travel starts within that year (3.2.1). Coupons must be used in the sequence shown, or the ticket may lose its validity (3.3.1). Extensions are limited, and an extension after the death of a passenger is no longer than 45 days.

Changing Oman Air tickets booked elsewhere

Booked through a travel agent or another site

The agency that issued your ticket controls the booking, and Oman Air says most online changes are not available for travel agent bookings. Oman Air's fare rules still apply on top of any fee the agency charges.
