Yes, eligible Emirates bookings can be changed in Manage Your Booking, and the cost depends on your fare conditions, not on one fixed fee list. Emirates currently offers unlimited free date changes on flights to Dubai for tickets issued on or after 10 August 2026, and one free date change worldwide on tickets booked from 2 April 2026. In both cases you still pay applicable taxes and any fare difference, and Manage Your Booking shows the price before you confirm.

Emirates currently advertises two free date change offers. Each depends on when your ticket was issued or booked, so check your ticket before you rely on either one.

A free date change is not a free new ticket. If the new flight costs more than the fare you paid, you pay the difference, plus any change in taxes.

Emirates fare types and refund flexibility

Emirates sells Economy and Business in several fare types, plus Premium Economy and First Class. Your fare conditions decide whether a ticket is refundable and whether changes cost extra, and Emirates says to click Fare conditions before you book, or ask your travel agent. The ladder below ranks the fares Emirates named in its August 2026 announcement by how much they allow on refunds for flights to Dubai, from least to most flexible.

Emirates describes Economy Flex Plus, Business Flex Plus, Premium Economy and First Class as fully flexible.

These are the terms Emirates announced for flights to Dubai. For other routes and directions, follow the fare conditions shown at booking and in Manage Your Booking.

Emirates change and refund fees

There is no single Emirates change fee that applies to every ticket. Manage Your Booking shows the charges for your ticket before you pay, so that is the number to trust. The only fee figures we could find published are the refund fees Emirates announced in August 2026 for flights to Dubai:

Change fee vs. fare difference

A change can include three separate amounts. The penalty is the charge set by your fare conditions, and it can be zero. Additional taxes apply if the new flights carry different taxes. The fare difference is the gap between the fare you paid and the price of the new itinerary. A free change removes the penalty only, so a busier date can still cost more. You pay the charges and the fare difference online to complete the change.

Example (illustrative numbers, not Emirates fares): You paid US$1,100 and your new date prices at US$1,180.

If your fare conditions waive the penalty, your cost is the US$80 fare difference plus any difference in taxes. If a penalty applies, it is added on top.

If a change leaves you owed money, for example for unused taxes, Emirates sends a credit note (EMD) to your email. It is valid for one year from the date it is issued. You can use it for future Emirates travel, or request a refund with Emirates' refund form.

Which Emirates fare is right if your plans might change?

The cheapest fare is not always the cheapest trip. Because Emirates does not publish one fee table, ask for the fare conditions of both options before you book, and compare the price gap with what a change could cost you. On eligible tickets to Dubai, date changes are free on any fare type, so a fare difference is the main risk there, and the refund fee is the main difference between fares: US$50 on Saver and US$25 on Flex for flights to Dubai. Flex Plus, Premium Economy and First Class are described as fully flexible, and they cost more. Anywhere else, the one free date change worldwide covers your first change only, so a second change follows your fare conditions. If your dates are fixed, a lower fare can be the better deal.

Emirates date change and rescheduling

Open Manage Your Booking on emirates.com or in the Emirates App. If your booking is eligible for online changes, you will see a Change my booking link. Emirates lets you change the dates, the departure time, a connecting flight or your cabin class there. Choose the new flights, check the price difference Emirates shows before you confirm, and pay online to finish the change. If the link is missing, the booking is not eligible online: contact your travel agent, or the Emirates Contact Centre if you booked with Emirates directly. Emirates also notes that its call centres can be busy, and that calling closer to your travel date can shorten the wait.

Emirates 24-hour hold and the US 24-hour rule

Emirates announced in August 2026 that customers can hold a fare for 24 hours at no charge while they finalise their plans, and that a fare difference may apply. A hold keeps a price while you decide. It is not a free change on a ticket you have already bought.

Separately, for flights to or from the United States, the US Department of Transportation requires airlines, including foreign airlines, to either hold a reservation at the quoted fare for 24 hours or allow it to be cancelled within 24 hours without penalty. Read the DOT notice for the conditions, and check what applies to your booking.

Cancel an Emirates flight and refunds

Emirates says you can get a full refund if your fare conditions allow it, and that it refunds the card used to buy the ticket. To cancel, use Manage Your Booking and then complete Emirates' refund form. Check the fare conditions first, because some tickets are not refundable and others carry cancellation charges. For a partly used ticket, some fares are not refundable once the trip has started, some carry a cancellation charge, and some refund only a portion of the fare. If you booked through an agency, the refund goes through the agency.

Emirates name correction and name change

We could not find a name-correction rule or fee on the Emirates pages we checked, so we will not quote a number. As a general rule across airlines, the name on the ticket must match the passport, and a ticket cannot be passed to a different traveller. If the traveller changes, plan on a new booking. If there is a spelling error, tell Emirates or the agency that issued the ticket as soon as you notice, and before you check in.

Emirates no-show policy and missed flights

Emirates has said that no-show fees remain unchanged, which confirms they exist on some fares. The amount comes from your fare conditions. We could not find an Emirates page that states what happens to the rest of your itinerary after a missed flight, or how long you have to act, so be cautious with websites that quote a fixed window.

If the flight has not left, open Manage Your Booking and look for the Change my booking link. Change or cancel there if your fare allows it.
If the link is missing, or the flight has already left, contact Emirates or the agency that issued your ticket straight away.
Do not buy a new ticket before you have asked what happens to the old one, and ask about the whole itinerary, since a missed outbound flight can affect the return.

If Emirates changes or cancels your flight

Emirates points affected customers to the disruption support section on its Flight Status page, where rebooking, refund and eligibility options are listed, and keeps a page of travel updates. On its change page Emirates also says it rebooks most disrupted tickets, including connecting journeys beyond Dubai, on the next available flight without fees. Don't accept a new itinerary before you have compared the alternatives with your plans, any onward flights and your visa. If you booked through an agency, tell the agency first, since it holds the ticket.

Modify your Emirates reservation

Change one passenger only

Any change you make online applies to everyone in the booking. To move just one person, contact Emirates or the travel agent who made the booking. Individual passengers can still have their own seats, dietary meals and extra services set in Manage Your Booking.

Change a partly used ticket

Depending on your fare conditions, you can change a ticket online even after you have flown part of it. Check the conditions before you cancel any remaining flights.

Change a Skywards Miles booking

Bookings bought with Skywards Miles or Emirates Business Rewards points can be changed online in Manage Your Booking. For a rewards booking on a partner airline, contact the Emirates Skywards team.

What to check after you change

Seats and meals. Selections on a sector you changed are not saved, so choose them again.
Chauffeur-drive. A booking on a changed flight is cancelled. Rebook it more than 12 hours ahead for the UAE, or 24 hours ahead for other cities.
UAE visa. If you applied through emirates.com, make sure the visa still covers your new dates. An approved visa can be used for 60 days from the date of approval.
Credit note. If Emirates issued an EMD, save the email. It is valid for one year.
Connections. On a trip with a Dubai stopover or several cities, check the connection time on each leg, because a change can alter more than one flight.

Emirates changes close to departure

Emirates says that if your original travel date is within the next 72 hours, you may still be able to make changes through Manage Your Booking or the Emirates App, as long as your booking is eligible. We could not find a published same-day change fee or a cut-off time on the pages we checked, so do not rely on figures from other sites. Contact Emirates or your agent as early as possible.

Changing Emirates tickets booked elsewhere

Booked through a travel agent or another site

The agency that issued your ticket controls the booking, and Emirates says to contact your travel agent if your booking is not eligible for online changes. Emirates' fare conditions still apply on top of any fee the agency charges.

Booked directly with Emirates

Use Manage Your Booking. If the booking is not eligible online, contact the Emirates Contact Centre using the options on emirates.com.

Pick the new flights, then review the penalty, additional taxes and fare difference.
Pay online to complete the change, then choose your seats and meals again and save the new itinerary.
